SUMMARY:Guest Workshop: Art in the Garden\, Drawing and Painting Workshop
DESCRIPTION:On this half-day drawing and painting course\, Niki will guide 
 you through observation techniques and drawing\, sketching and watercolour
  methods including capturing perspective\, creating depth and contrast\, u
 sing colour wash and mark making. We’ll look at the joy of recreating ou
 r love of plants and gardens through art and of recording directly from na
 ture.\n\nCourse taught indoors and out in a small group to ensure time for
  personal attention. We will work directly from life out in the beautiful 
 Dilston Physic Garden where weather permits\, with the comfort of a warm r
 oom to retreat to when necessary! Explore different materials including pe
 ncils\, inks and watercolours. The workshop will teach techniques and meth
 ods which will build confidence in working outdoors\, directly observing f
 rom nature.\n\nKey information\n\nLevel: Suitable for beginners and experi

 om\nParking: Please park only in the Top-up Car Park and not the small vis
 itor car park. Allow for a pleasant 10-minute flat country walk from the D
 PG Top-up Car Park to the Herbology. Directions to car park and further in
 formation will be provided upon booking.\n\nWhat to expect \n\nThe worksho
 ps will give guidance and tuition on different methods and approaches to d
 rawing\, sketching and watercolour. Beginning in-doors for approximately a
 n hour with opportunity to practice and ask questions before going outside
  to begin drawing directly from nature\, ‘en plein air’. We will aim t
 o spend a couple of hours outside in the gardens\, weather depending.\n\nW
 hat to bring\n\nSuitable clothing and footwear for walking and sitting out
 side. Layers are advised and a light waterproof. Something to sit on\, eit
 her camping stool or picnic mat or gardening kneeler are all recommended d
 epending on what you feel happy to carry. Any art materials you wish to br
 ing. A water bottle for both your own refreshment and to top up your paint
 ing water. Please bring snacks as you wish! Tea and coffee will be availab
 le in the classroom.\n\nAbout your Tutor \n\nNiki Black is an experienced 
 freelance artist and art tutor. Based in Stocksfield\, Northumberland\, Ni
 ki works in inks\, watercolour and acrylic\, drawing inspiration from the 
 beautiful woods and natural environment on her door-step.
