Mint Tea
At Dilston Physic Garden, our mint (Mentha) is grown organically in the heart of Northumberland. More than just a refreshing herb traditionally used for its invigorating flavor, mint is also celebrated for its wide array of health benefits, many of which are now backed by modern science. Studies highlight its cognitive benefits, including improved attention and focus. Mint has also been shown to possess antibacterial, antiviral, immunomodulatory, antitumor, neuroprotective and antifatigue properties. In addition, its antioxidant capabilities help protect the body from oxidative stress, while its anti-inflammatory properties can soothe inflammation throughout the body.
Mint is well known for its beneficial effects on digestion, often used to relieve gastrointestinal discomfort and peppermint essential oil is used in mainstream medicine for this. Moreover, mint’s muscle relaxant properties can help alleviate muscle pain and tension. Our organically cultivated mint is, like sage, a symbol of nature’s ability to heal and rejuvenate, supported by both tradition and science. Mounting evidence indicates that peppermint has many more properties and may pharmacologically protect gastrointestinal, liver, kidney, skin, respiratory, brain and nervous systems, as well as exert hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effects.
